Dolomite is a magnesium-bearing carbonate mineral, formula CaMg(CO
, and often occurs as saddle-shaped crystals.
This specimen comes from the Olympic Dam deposit, Roxby Downs, South Australia, and there are small hemispheres of hematite present.
